In 1872, monks from Beuron founded Maredsous, not far from the Molignée valley. The various buildings are of neo-Gothic style. The Abbey, - i.e. the church and the buildings shaped in a large quadrilateral compound -, makes up the very heart of Maredsous. It is here that a major part of the monks' life unfolds. This area is closed to the public. Only the reception centre, the abbey church and the Grégoire Fournier centre are open to the public. Monastic order: Benedictines. Way marked walks.
